Fallen Fruit’s EATLACMA & Photos from LACMA Public Fruit Jam (August 2010)
I guess better late than never! Here are some of the photos from the LACMA (Los Angeles County Museum of Art) public fruit jam!
LACMA launched a new program called EATLACMA, which examines the relationship of food & people. It hired the artist collective Fallen Fruit to spearhead this project. This video introduces EATLACMA & its mission:
A few photos from the event:

The public fruit jam was free but I still had to get a ticket @ the box office.

Upon arrival, I found baskets full of various fruits

Picked the fruits for my jam, ready to cut 'em up to li'l pieces.

Peek-a-fruit! Hahaha. Jamming = jolly!

We could have cut the fruits into even smaller pieces, but we were the last people still cutting up at the event, so we stopped at this point.

Then, a volunteer helped us boil the fruits with some pectin ("fruit sugar") & water for about 15 minutes.

Finally, after the fruit jam gets cooked, we placed them in these jars! So yummy!
Our 5.5 jars of fruit jam had:
- sweet lemons
- apples
- grapefruit
- yellow peaches
- oranges
My little cousins (8 & 10 year-olds) & I enjoyed this event so much! THANKS to FALLEN FRUIT & LACMA! Who knew an art museum would host such a fun food-related event?
