Martha Stewart Appearance | Bryant Terry

Martha Stewart Appearance | Bryant Terry.

I heard that Bryant Terry was going to be on Martha Stewart’s show on Monday morning.  I watched and enjoyed the show, which featured Alice Waters.  Chef Bryant showed Martha how to prepare spinach with ginger, chile, and citrus chard with raisins.  It sounded and looked delicious!  Watching the show inspired me to:

  1. Make that sauteed cactus & greens dish I made last night.
  2. Plant the seeds that I bought last year!

If you’ve never heard of these figures before, this is more reason for you to watch the episode.  It will re-air on Saturday, May 8th.

If you’ve never heard of Bryant Terry, he is a food activist based in Oakland.  Here is his bio in his website:

Oakland-based food activist & chef

“this young food activist makes southern cooking healthy and cool.”

—new york times

Bryant Terry is an eco chef, food justice activist, and author of critically acclaimed Vegan Soul Kitchen (VSK): Fresh, Healthy, and Creative African-American Cuisine (Da Capo/Perseus March 2009). For the past ten years he has worked to build a more just and sustainable food system and has used cooking as a tool to illuminate the intersections between poverty, structural racism, and food insecurity. His interest in cooking, farming, and community health can be traced back to his childhood in Memphis, Tennessee, where his grandparents inspired him to grow, prepare, and appreciate good food.
